Rhoda Wice, of the Point Pleasant community, celebrated her 99th birthday on June 10. She is the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Emmaline (Correll) Lingo. She had a sister, Eunice Smith, and a brother, Mack Lingo. She was born off Corn Hollow Road, not far from her current residence in Point Pleasant. She has attended Point Pleasant Baptist Church since she was a baby, explaining because of her health she is unable to attend now. She is the widow of Curtis Wice. "I still do housework and I enjoy cooking," she said. Looking ahead, she said she is looking forward to seeing her 100th birthday because her cardiologist promised to have dinner with her when she turns 100. "I've lived longer than anyone in my family," Wice said. "I don't even have any first cousins left."
